What people say about the course
Difference-in-Differences by Causal Solutions is a memorable course and probably the most complete option currently available on the subject. By carefully going over the DiD foundations, the course lay the groundwork that enables students to understand what problems will arise when DiD is used in more complex settings, such as when there are multiple time periods or there is variation in treatment timing, and how to tackle them. Also, coding exercises (in Stata and R) are provided, so we understand how to implement what we are learning.
However, what I think makes the course memorable is Pedro. He is a superb teacher that is able to breakdown complex topics so that students can understand and follow along. His passion and energy are inspiring. It is clear to see that he loves what he is teaching and that makes the course much more engaging. I can't recommend enough the experience of having him as an instructor.

Pedro is an excellent instructor. The course was super interesting as it offered a good overview of the most recent trends in DiD literature, explained in a clear and easy-to-understand way. Pedro was always available to answer all our questions and to stay extra time with us when needed. The course offered a good combination of theory and application, and provided us with all the reference papers and also some examples of how to run R or Stata codes.
For me was a great opportunity to catch up with the recent development on this topic, and all the lectures were extremely interesting. Pedro is very nice and makes you feel comfortable during the lectures: you won't get bored!
We have now access to all the material for 1 year and this is very useful

Fantastic course! Learning the latest developments on Difference-in-difference from someone who has been in the heart of it has been a real privilege. I did the course fully asynchronously and enjoyed every second of the sessions! Great practicals and provided both in R and Stata which also helps the transition between the two softwares. Can't recommend this course enough!”

Pedro is passionate about teaching and really concerned about his students. He is very successful in the arduous task of teaching the basics and more recent developments of the DiD literature. I highly recommend this course for anyone interested in applied empirical research.

Pedro has a really nice enthusiasm and energy! His knowledge of many aspects of DiD is unique. I had a good grounding before this course, but I still learned a lot. Also, he was good about allowing people a reasonable break in the middle of sessions which other courses don’t do (and suffer because of it).

I really liked the structure of the course, covering the basic 2x2 case and building on that to explain more complex situations. I also liked the fact that the course clearly separated identification and estimation steps, making it easier to reason about causal assumptions. There were also some labs in R which helped consolidate the theory. And there were always opportunities to ask questions during the classes, Q&A sessions, and offline on Slack/Discord. It was a very helpful and fun course on DID!

“If you want to learn DiD, this is the course. Pedro is a star in this field, and he explains classic DiD and recent developments in concise and intuitive ways. Pedro is an excellent teacher; he is at the cutting edge of new developments, and he makes extraordinary efforts to explain things clearly (which, we know, takes a lot of preparation). ”

Pedro provided an intuitive structure that was built in a logical and easy to follow manner. He set a fast but necessary pace for each lesson along with clear instructions encouraging participation. The rhythm / break setting was ideal as was his selection of questions to answer live or address later. This allowed us to stay on track while still making sure everyone's questions were (eventually) covered, either in the breaks or asynchronously via Slack. I really appreciated how efficiently he handled such a diverse group, and it is a testament to how deeply Pedro understands the material he is teaching. I can't speak highly enough of this course and Pedro's teaching approach.

“This is an excellent course. I was already familiar with DID models, but the course provided new developments I was not aware of and that I found very useful. I will use these new methods in my work.”
Gustavo AngelesUniversity of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
“Pedro knows the recently published DID literature extremely well---he has co-authored many of these papers but is also very knowledgeable about the papers written by other method researchers. In addition, he is an exceptional presenter and handles questions very well. I feel that I was able to get a solid start on these newly published papers in a few days that would have taken me weeks if I had to read the papers myself.”

“Awesome blend of hands-on treatment of estimation and background. Our lecturer gave a top overview of the recent developments and literature, which I could not have digested so quickly on my own.”

“This course has enhanced my understanding of Difference in Differences methods and the cutting-edge innovations that have been made in recent years. It also provided me with the material to implement the analysis empirically. Pedro offered great insights and it is always available and friendly. I highly recommend this course!”

“What I liked the most about this course is all theories/assumptions and estimation procedures, which were explained very clearly for conditional parallel trend in the 2x2 setting. I really learned a lot!”
